FREE FALL LAUNCH

Last Saturday (4/10) Rae had the "Free Fall" launch. It was held at the Fire House (see pic) on Main Street in Rockport. The launch included the writers group that Rae has been a member of for the the last few years. Everyone in the group read from their writings. Two other of the members are having books published this year.
The event was very well attended and some of the local media highlighted the event-see Rae's big head.
Anyhow the launch, even tho a lot of work and expense, was great.
Rae has scheduled many readings one of which is in her home town of Santa Barbara, CA in August.
The next reading is at Possman Books in Chelsea Market - 9th Ave. & 15th Street.

Rae's book is in Barnes & Noble

We met Susan for lunch at Chat & Chew - met her nephew - great guy. After good food, as always, we went to BN to check to see if her book "Free Fall" was in.
Good news - it's there. Bad news its on the third floor stuck away in the Sexuality section. Should be down on the first floor next to 'Eat, Pray, Love".
If BN wants the book to sell its gotta move down stairs.
Can you even see the book? I guess in closeup you can.
We went to the info desk & tried to see if they could bring the book down but they said it wasn't up them but they would look into it.

MONDAY NIGHTS

Like most Monday nights we go to the reading at Half King. They have an author read from their book and take questions. Tonight the book was 'Priviileges' by Jonathan Dee. I haven't read it yet but I never read the author till I've heard them read & get an idea of what the book is about. Rae reviews a lot of them and they are published at Gatehouse Media (a group of around 500 papers around the country who will pick the review up if they want). She does it free to be back in the game and to get her name & book out there.
The reading was fun, although the audience was sparse. I guess the day after the Superbowl and sorta cold. He didn't read particularly well but the section was fun and it peaked my interest enough so I will read it. I asked him if that was the best part of the book (& got a laugh) and was assured that it built up from there.
Then..... Daniel Holzman opened a new restaurant on the lower east side - The Meatball Shop on Stanton. He is the son of a long time friend, John. The place was jammed so we didn't stay long but got to see Eli (his other son the producer of 'Undercover Boss') who I haven't seen in years.
Anyway a fun night.
We are going to try to have breakfast or something before Eli leaves Thursday.
